Job Summary

Vice President & Head of Operations Metallurgical Complex

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

The Vice President and Head of Operations of the Metallurgical Complex (MET) will be an integral member of the U.S. PGM Operations executive leadership and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that ensure safe sustainable and profitable processing aligned with the U.S. PGM Operations and recycling strategic intent. The successful individual will drive consistency and alignment across sites; will ensure compliance with state federal international and Sibanye Group operational safety environmental sustainability and quality standards; and will foster a culture of accountability innovation and continuous improvement to deliver financial and operational excellence. This position will also interact regularly with group-level leaders.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Direction and Leadership.
  • Lead the development of the overall processing strategic plan architecture and operating philosophy.
  • Ensure a favorable institutional image for the operations through business and social responsibility actions within the processing environment.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement by providing appropriate platforms.

Technical Oversight

  • Be proactive in all aspects of the operation; safety effective and efficient utilization of resources productivity improvement initiatives and teamwork across the site.
  • Work collaboratively with technical and support services human resources safety supply chain finance and process areas to achieve all business plan objectives.
  • Establish and execute short- and long-term planning strategies that both recognize and reduce risk to the operations while maximizing the value of the resource.
  • Develop and execute strategic workforce planning and organizational development.
  • Work cooperatively with site leadership teams in overseeing multiple work groups and supporting growth with an experienced team of professionals.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders from site to site in the operational chain ensuring alignment of objectives and effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Engage with regulators industry bodies and communities to ensure compliance and strengthen reputation.
  • Liaise with external service providers and partners to design and implement operational tools technologies and practices.
  • Collaborate with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
  • Engage proactively and positively with group technical and internal/external audit teams.

Financial Management

  • Facilitate the development of all Met Complex expenses and capital budgets including workforce planning.
  • Develop and adhere to all facility capital and operating expense budgets.
  • Oversee the development and execution of a production plan to ensure the achievement of production volume and product quality to meet deadlines and cost goals.

Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Align with international responsible mining principles.
  • Enhance U.S. PGM Operations for ICCM principles.
  • Actively support safety and health management and environmental systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Reinforce compliance with company department safety and occupational health and OSHA policy and regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment with a continuous focus on improving the safety culture and safety performance of the metallurgical facility.
  • Ensure that proper procedures are followed to investigate incidents near misses damage or process delays.
  • Identify assess and mitigate environmental-related risks to safeguard business continuity and reputation.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational excellence through consistent standards disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
  • Instill a culture where employees take personal responsibility for safety and contribute to a safe value-driven environment.
  • Balance safe production with sustainability and profitability ensuring long-term value creation for stakeholders

Team Management

  • Ensure employee training and development is occurring in MET. Specific activities include staffing staff training administration of progression plans work practices and skills development.
  • Ensure adherence to equipment and production plan commitments and budgets.
  • Demonstrate positive two-way communication fair and consistent administration of Company policies and procedures and responsiveness to employee concerns.
  • Foster cooperation collaboration and innovation to ensure that goals are set and met.
  • Develop and communicate goals in cooperation with both the executive and site leadership teams.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering from a recognized institution (masters degree preferred).
  • At least 10 years of experience in a related role of which five should have been at a senior management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
  • Minimum 12 years relevant process plant experience with a mix of production maintenance and project background preferred with eight years in a technical or operations leadership role.
  • Proven track record in senior operational leadership roles.
  • Experience with smelting refining methods (precious metal processing preferred) and assay laboratory.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling operations and driving efficiency improvements.
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Decisive leadership skills with solid organizational and planning skills. Ability to think laterally and strategically
  • In-depth understanding of all metal accounting measurements controls systems and principles.
  • Sound knowledge of the total PGM value chain.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA and environmental regulations/compliance.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Ability to develop and lead a complex multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in the preparation of operating and capital budgets.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft (PowerPoint Excel and Word) and project-based software.
