The mandate of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture (CJN) is to assists Members of the
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in using
nuclear techniques and related technologies to improve food security alleviate poverty and promote sustainable agriculture. The Joint FAO/IAEA Centre consists of five Sections each with an associated laboratory (located in Seibersdorf Austria) in the areas
of animal production and health; plant breeding and genetics; insect pest control; soil and water management and crop nutrition;
and food safety and control. The major activities of the joint FAO/IAEA Centre focus on: a) support and coordination of R&D activities; b) capacity building and technology for FAO/IAEA Members; c) laboratory and technical support and assistance; d) policy advice and knowledge dissemination.
Reporting Lines
The Programme Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Expert reports to the Director of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture (CJN).
Technical Focus
Programme Strategy High-quality content/document development (concept notes roadmaps speeches presentations and correspondence); document coordination (compilation review and editing of information provided by the different scientific sections and laboratories of the Joint Centre and quality assurance of the content aligned with target stakeholders).
Stakeholder engagement: Coordination of strategic events related to the Atoms4Food initiative high-level meetings of FAO and the IAEA including international side events.
Tasks and responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Director of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture (CJN) the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
Strategic planning
Development and quality assurance of various documents (such as roadmaps proposals and speeches) correspondence and presentations.
Content development related to events including synthesis summaries and post-event follow up.
Stakeholder engagement
Coordination of various events with stakeholders collaboration and interaction with partners resource mobilization.
Technical inputs to all activities related to high-level events of the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre.
Programme coordination
Providing technical inputs and coordination of activities related to FAO/IAEA projects in the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre including programme/project preparation and submissions and progress reports.
Review and revisions and finalization as necessary of all submissions for substantive programmes/projects ensuring compliance with mandates guidelines and programme/project objectives.
Provide technical input to all activities related to the Atoms4Food initiatives including project proposals and events.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
Advanced University degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in social science journalism political science international relations or a related field.
At least 7 years of relevant experience in strategic planning programme management and stakeholder management.
Working knowledge (proficiency level C) of English.
