Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Chief of Payments Office is looking for a CO-OP Student to assist with communications engagement and change management within the Payments Division which oversees the PRESTO fare payment system. The CO-OP Student will focus on communication planning event planning presentation development change management initiatives engagement support and other work with internal stakeholders to provide analytical support in the completion of required tasks and deliverables. You will be reporting to the Manager Communications and Engagement Payments.

What will I be doing
  • Supports communications and strategy objectives which may include preparing presentations messaging reports and memos to support executives
  • Provides assistance and support to staff in a variety of areas including gathering inputting organizing and interpreting data for reports/presentations/meetings/projects
  • Supports engagement initiatives across the division
  • Maintains and updates electronic and hardcopy filing systems and provides record management services
  • Supports change management initiatives across the division
  • Recommends improvements to existing processes and procedures to achieve greater efficiency
  • Performs assigned technical/professional/administrative duties
  • Prepares agendas coordinates attends and takes minutes for meetings as required
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
  • Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
  • Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
  • Enrolled in business administration public administration communications political science strategy or marketing at a post-secondary institution
  • Interest in payments is a strong asset
  • A willingness to learn while being exposed to all aspects of fare payments
