The Outdoor Attendant contributes to the maintenance and improvement of outdoor recreation opportunities for the residents of Strathcona County and other members of the public through manual labor and other tasks as operational experience is gained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the turf ice surface and building conditions for hazards maintenance etc.
- Prepare the facility for use by guests ensuring surroundings are safe and clean
- Perform manual tasks required in feature sports fields and winter operations with the use of hand power tools and equipment (e.g. rakes mops brooms snow shovels ice chippers etc.)
- Learn the safe operation procedures of small equipment (e.g. backpack blowers ATVs walk behind snowblowers)
- Operate trucks up to and including one ton
- Stock facility change rooms washrooms and janitorial storage rooms with cleaning supplies as required
- Monitor the safe and orderly conduct of recreational users on the turf ice and in buildings
Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Ability to build healthy rapport with coworkers
- Perform duties in inclement weather with possible exposure to severe weather conditions
- Ability to communicate well with different audiences
- Completion of Grade 10
- Previous experience as facility attendant or winter operations and outdoor rink maintenance is an asset
- First Aid / CPR and AED training certificate is an asset
- WHMIS Certificate is an asset
Conditions of Employment
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers license and submission of a Drivers Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Availability to work days evenings weekends and holidays
