JOB DESCRIPTION: Teacher-World Language Spanish/English Language Learner

POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Teacher English Language Learner / Spanish provides instruction and support for multilingual learners while also delivering Spanish language instruction. The teacher designs and implements language instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards supports students in acquiring and developing English language proficiency and collaborates with classroom teachers and staff to ensure multilingual learners have equitable access to academic content and learning opportunities.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Teacher English Language Learner / Spanish:
- Plans and delivers instruction in English language development designed to support multilingual learners in acquiring listening speaking reading and writing skills. *
- Develops and delivers Spanish language instruction aligned with district curriculum and state standards. *
- Creates and provides tools resources technical assistance and instructional supports to ensure students have access to language acquisition and academic success. *
- Collaborates with classroom teachers specialists and administrators to support multilingual learners achievement across all academic content areas. *
- Advocates for multilingual learners and supports equitable access to academic instruction and school programs. *
- Administers and interprets formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress in English language acquisition and academic performance. *
- Maintains required documentation related to multilingual learner services assessments and student progress in accordance with district state and federal requirements. *
- Personalizes instruction to address individual student language proficiency levels learning styles and academic needs. *
- Utilizes appropriate instructional strategies and assessment tools to support second language acquisition and Spanish language learning.
- Serves as a liaison between the school and families of multilingual learners when appropriate. *
- Provides equity in the classroom by providing equal opportunity for students regardless of race sex gender identity sexual orientation background and abilities. *
- Communicates with and constantly strives to maintain a positive relationship with students and parents. *
- Manages student behavior in the classroom. *
- Organizes the classroom to promote learning student safety and ensures classroom equipment functions in a safe manner. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the *
- Responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment by enforcing school rules in hallways on the grounds and other areas of the school. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations coursework workshops and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees taskforces in-depth studies or councils). *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Billingual in Spanish and English; knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory; knowledge of second language acquisition patterns and best practices in English language development; possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home; ability to develop and maintain a positive relationship with students; knowledge of special education law and regulations; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); knowledge of physiological psychological emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; and ability to lead meetings; ability to help groups achieve consensus.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree; certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with endorsements in World language Spanish 6-12 or K-12 and English Language Learner instruction.
Work Experience: Experience teaching Spanish and/or as an instructor of multilingual learners is preferred.
