About the Role

We are seeking aStaff Data Developer to join our Data & Intelligence division. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering you will design and implement scalable complex data pipelines and infrastructure to power our data products.

As a senior member of the team youll collaborate closely with data scientists software engineers and product managers to enhance the reliability and performance of our data systems while influencing the enterprise-wide data architecture. You will also mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in data engineering.

What Youll Do

• Design develop and maintain scalable cost-effective and reliable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure alignment with product and customer success teams.
• Architect and implement data storage solutions (data lakes warehouses real-time processing systems) and supporting cloud infrastructure.
• Optimize pipelines for performance scalability cost-efficiency and automation.
• Ensure data quality integrity and security across all systems.
• Evaluate and adopt new tools technologies and processes.
• Partner with DevOps and engineering teams for seamless deployment monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Document workflows and processes for knowledge sharing and maintainability.
• Stay current on industry trends in data engineering ML and cloud computing.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers.

What You Bring to the Team

• 5 years of hands-on experience with data software development.
• Experience with AlayaCares stack (Python PHP AWS).
• Bachelors or advanced degree in computer science mathematics or related fields.
• Strong skills in DBT SQL Python Snowflake Iceberg Spark and AWS (ECS S3 Aurora RDS).
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka Kinesis and Flink.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in dimensional data modeling and semantic layer design.
• Strong collaboration communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in Agile development methodologies.
• Mindset encouraging transparency accountability and trust.
• Experience in healthcare home health or medical devices is an asset.
• Familiarity with data governance concepts & tools is an asset.
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.

Location and Work Model

This role is based in Montreal. At AlayaCare our hybrid model includes 2 set in-office collaboration days/week and it is expected that team members are present in the office on those days to foster connection innovation and teamwork.
