JOB GOAL: The Athletics Director at Natick High School is a leader committed to equity collaboration and continuous improvement. This position is responsible for planning directing and overseeing all aspects of the high schools highly successful interscholastic athletics program including 35 different sports and 80 different teams. Natick High Schools athletics program also includes a proud tradition of multiple Unified Sports teams.
The Athletics Director provides leadership in program development staff hiring and supervision budgeting scheduling and community engagement. This role also ensures that athletics operations comply with district policies MIAA regulations and legal requirements while promoting a safe inclusive and academically supportive environment for all student-athletes. |

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- At least a Masters degree preferably in educational administration required
- Massachusetts Administrator Licensure required either as Supervisor/Director or as a Vice-Principal/Principal 9 - 12
- SEI Endorsement required
- Prior athletic coaching experience required.
- Prior leadership experience in a school setting is preferred and certification in athletic administration (e.g. CAA or CMAA) highly valued.
- Strong communication team-building organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. ProgramLeadership
- Develops implements and evaluates a comprehensive athletics program aligned with Natick Public Schools Strategic Plan and MIAA regulations.
- Coordinates the scheduling of all practices competitions facilities and transportation for Natick High School Kennedy Middle School and Wilson Middle School.
- Ensures timely and accurate submission of required reports documentation and data to the MIAA the Principal and the district as required.
2. Staff Supervision
- Recruits hires supervises and evaluates coaching staff the NHS Athletics Department Administrative Assistant the NHS Assistant Athletics Director the NHS Athletic Trainer as well as the Middle School Athletics Coordinators in accordance with NPS HR policies.
- Provides ongoing professional development and ensures adherence to coaching expectations ethical standards and Title IX guidelines.
- Conducts seasonal coaches meetings and maintains documentation of training and certifications.
3. Student Athletics Eligibilityand Support
- Oversees academic eligibility processes and collaborates with school administrators to monitor student-athletes progress.
- Ensures compliance with physical exam requirements medical clearances and participation forms.
- Promotes student well-being sportsmanship leadership development and equitable access to programs.
of Departmental Procedures and Safety Requirements
- Ensures adherence to MIAA rules Bay State League policies district policies and legal requirements.
- Implements and monitors safety protocols including concussion management emergency response procedures and supervision standards.
- Maintains accurate records including rosters accident reports equipment inventories and facility usage logs.
4. Budget and Resource Management
- Develops and manages the middle school and high school athletics budget in alignment with district financial policies and practices.
- Oversees procurement maintenance and distribution of athletic equipment uniforms and supplies for the high school and both middle schools.
- Coordinates facility use field maintenance and preparation for athletic events in collaboration with custodial and operations staff for both middle schools and Natick High School.
5. Communication & Community Relations
- Serves as the primary point of contact for athletics-related inquiries from families staff league officials and community organizations
- Communicates schedules program expectations updates and regulatory changes through established district channels for the high school and both middle schools
- Partners with athletics booster organizations and collaborates on fundraising activities consistent with district guidelines.
- Hosts regular pre-season family meetings.
- Ensures regular communication between coaches and caregivers
- Engages is regular outreach to families and students to evaluate the program and uses the data to inform program leadership.
- Communicates with town departments as needed including the Department of Public Works Natick Recreation Department and the Town Finance Department.
- Represents Natick High School on the Town Committee to select NHS Athletics Hall of Fame inductees.
6. Event Supervision
- Supervises home competitions and major athletic events including on evenings and weekends to ensure safety compliance and positive spectator behavior.
- Coordinates required staffing for events including ticketing security and medical personnel.
- Makes decisions regarding schedule changes due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
7. School Leadership
- Participates in regular school Safety Team meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Meets regularly with the Principal
- Creates and delivers well-organized presentations to the School Committee on budget and other aspects of the athletics program.
- Other duties as assigned.
