Job Summary

The Department of German at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in German beginning fall semester 2026.

Field of specialization in German literary and cultural studies is open. Completion of the Ph.D. in the field of German literature German Studies or Comparative Literature is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The teaching load is five courses per year and includes language literature and culture courses. The successful candidate will fulfill the expectation that all Colgate faculty participate in all-university programs including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. Candidates should show scholarly promise teaching experience a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in both language and literature and native or near-native fluency in German and English.
