SGI is seeking a General Clerk to provide front desk support services at the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) office in Minneapolis Minnesota. The General Clerk will serve as the first point of contact for visitors onsite staff and USDA personnel. Responsibilities include managing visitor access coordinating communications supporting office operations and maintaining a professional front desk environment. The position supports daily administrative operations at the USDA APHIS facility and provides customer service to visitors and staff.

Job Duties
- Serve as the primary front desk point of contact for visitors onsite staff and USDA personnel
- Screen visitors and guests by verifying USDA badge identification or reviewing government-provided lists of expected guests before granting office access
- Welcome visitors and provide clear verbal communication when directing guests to the appropriate department meeting or conference room
- Maintain visitor accountability by ensuring guests sign in and sign out and by issuing and tracking visitor passes
- Issue and track elevator cards
- Contact USDA personnel to notify them of guest arrivals and coordinate access
- Answer and route front desk phone calls to appropriate USDA personnel
- Monitor the Minneapolis Facilities email box and route messages to the appropriate Board of Director (BOD) member
- Retrieve packages or boxes left outside the front office doors and sign for packages if mailroom staff are unavailable
- Assign lockers to staff reset locker codes and replace locker batteries as needed
- Maintain the front desk area to ensure it remains organized and professional
- Update Minneapolis email addresses and phone listings as necessary
- Coordinate meeting room reservations and room configurations as needed
- Restock mailroom supplies monthly and replenish wipes in open office areas as needed
- Provide quarterly supply lists to the BOD for replenishing supply cabinets
- Ensure emergency binders are updated quarterly
- Forward building-wide email events to the Minneapolis email group as needed
- Update digital signage displays as needed
- Initiate the InformaCast announcement system in case of an emergency
- Replace presidential portraits at the front desk as needed
- Use a government-furnished laptop in accordance with federal information technology rules to review and respond to email inquiries
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain adjudication for the required background investigation
- Ability to follow specific detailed instructions
- Skill in the use of office equipment such as phones and computers
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Physical ability to lift packages weighing 25 pounds or less
Security Requirements
Contract personnel must be able to successfully complete and maintain any required background investigation prior to performing work under the contract.
