EC Teaching Assistant (ECTA) Job Description
The Expedition School offers an exceptional project based learning approach with a STEM focused environment that seeks to develop high level analytical and critical thinking skills in all of its students. This focus is fully integrated within the core academic disciplines of mathematics science social sciences language arts and technology. Be a part of a strong creative and collaborative staff who put students at the center. You will be supported through coaching and team collaboration. TES operates on a modified year-round schedule.
EC Teaching Assistant Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting identified students throughout the school day by:
- Creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with students
- Following any behavior intervention plans to anticipate and respond to student behaviors
- Supporting students to engage in academic and social/emotional instruction (staying on task participating in instruction completing tasks/assignments following directions)
- Managing students behavior chart and data tracking
- Monitoring behavior at recess and intervening when needed to support peer interactions
- Collaborating with students teachers and team to implement strategies and evidence based practices to target individual students goals
- Experience/Skills
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with other adults on the students team
- Experience managing student behaviors in the classroom is preferred
- Self-directed and motivated
- Be compassionate and patient towards individuals with special needs.
- Have a calm personality.
- Be reliable and responsible.
- Be organized and able to document student progress.
- Crisis Preventing Interventions (CPI) trained or willing to become certified to administer physical restraint
Qualified candidates will:
- Hold a minimum of an associates degree in a related field and have experience with students with special needs.
Required experience:
- Working with special needs children: 1 year
- Working in an education setting: 1 year
This is a full-time position including benefits options.
Hours:
- All Regular Full Day Student Days: 7:30am - 3:45pm
- All Early Release Student Days: 7:30pm - 1:45pm
- Includes some teacher workdays
- 2026-27 TES Calendar
Anticipated Start Date: July 27 2026
Starting Salary : $19.15/hr
