Job Summary
SPECIAL EDUCATION VTS INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS DESIGNER
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Instructional Materials Designer to develop innovative evidence-based educational resources for special education teachers working with students who have complex communication needs. This role focuses on creating materials that enhance language and communication skills through research-based methodologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design anddevelop instructional materials tools and resources specifically for students with complex communication needs
Research and integrate current evidence-based practices in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) language development and special education
Collaborate with team members to identify material needs and effectiveness
Create adaptable resources that can be customized for various communication levels and learning styles
Develop implementation guides and training materials for special education teachers and speech-language pathologist
Evaluateand revise materials based on feedback
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
Mastersdegree in Special Education with a focus on Severe Disabilities
Minimum 1 years experience working with students with complex communication needs
Evidence of successfully completing at a minimum one university level AAC course
Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in language development and AAC
Experience in instruction design and material development
Proficiency in Boardmaker SymbolStix and Microsoft products
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification in special education or speech-language pathology
Experience with assistive technology and communication devices
Knowledge of universal design for learning UDL principles
