What does the role involve

The Program Coordinator will support the implementation of Caritas Australias program strategies by overseeing a portfolio of humanitarian and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) partnerships and projects aimed at empowering partners and communities to build resilience and to prepare for and respond to disasters.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Support the humanitarian and DRR portfolio projects to ensure alignment with Caritas Australias strategies and quality project delivery.
  • Coordinate a diverse partnership and project portfolio while providing support to Program Officers and balancing competing priorities.
  • Strengthen partnerships in the IndoPacific by supporting partner accompaniment organisational development and collaborative stakeholder relationships.
  • Coordinate all partnership deliverables by managing partnership cycle phases and ensuring the effective completion of partnership tools in line with partnership principles.
  • Manage the full project cycle including monitoring evaluation and reporting for AHPfunded and other institutional grant projects.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying and supporting institutional funding opportunities.


This role is based in our Mascot office and will work a hybrid model including two days in the office per week with an expectation of international travel for at least 8 weeks of the year.


Who are we looking for

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australias mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in international development (or related field) with a strong understanding of sociopolitical issues and experience in international development and humanitarian contexts or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in brokering and coordinating complex partnerships and multistakeholder arrangements across diverse geographic and socioeconomic contexts.
  • Proven experience in project management and administration of large complex humanitarian programs including project design monitoring reporting and financial management.
  • Strong experience in partnership coordination including organisational development of partners mentoring colleagues and applying consensusbuilding and reflective learning
  • Excellent communication skills in written verbal and cross-cultural contexts with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
  • Willingness to work within a Catholic ethos with the capacity to travel domestically and internationally for approximately 8 weeks per year when required.
