Sr. Atlassian Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Atlassian Engineer to join American Express Global Business this strategic role you will lead the design implementation and optimization of our Atlassian ecosystem driving digital transformation and enabling seamless collaboration across the enterprise.

What Youll Do:

• Strategic Planning & Architecture: Design and architect scalable Atlassian solutions aligned with organizational goals and technical roadmap

• System Leadership: Lead the administration maintenance and governance of Jira Confluence and Trello environments across cloud and on-premise deployments

• Advanced Configuration: Develop complex workflows automation rules and custom solutions using Jira Automation Scripts and APIs

• Integration Strategy: Architect and oversee integrations between Atlassian tools and enterprise systems ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability

• Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers establish best practices and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams

• Performance & Optimization: Monitor system health capacity planning and implement performance enhancements to support organizational growth

• Security & Governance: Establish security protocols access management frameworks and ensure compliance with enterprise standards

• Innovation & Roadmap: Evaluate new Atlassian features and third-party solutions recommending enhancements to improve user experience and operational efficiency

• Documentation & Knowledge Management: Create comprehensive architectural documentation runbooks and knowledge bases in Confluence

• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business leaders IT teams and end-users to understand requirements and deliver solutions

What Were Looking For:

• Bachelors / Mastersdegree in computer science Information Technology or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

• 7 years of professional experience with Atlassian products (Jira Confluence and Trello)

• 3 years in a senior or leadership role managing Atlassian environments

• Expert-level knowledge of Jira administration including advanced workflow design custom fields and automation

• Advanced proficiency in Confluence architecture space management and content governance

• Strong experience with Trello administration and automation

• Proven experience with REST APIs webhooks and system integrations

• Solid understanding of cloud and on-premise deployment models

• Excellent problem-solving analytical and strategic thinking skills

• Strong leadership and communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Atlassian Certified Administrator (Jira and/or Confluence)

• Atlassian Certified Associate or Expert level certifications

• Experience with Atlassian Cloud Premium or Enterprise deployments

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python JavaScript Groovy or similar)

• Knowledge of Atlassian Marketplace app development or customization

• Experience with agile transformation and organizational change management

• Background in enterprise architecture or IT infrastructure

• Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines and development tools integration

• Experience withAtlassian products (Jira ConfluenceTrello Jira Service Management) and their cloud-specific features including configurations permissions workflows and add-ons.

• Excellent communication documentation and stakeholdermanagement skills.
