Azure DBA Cosmos DB

Azure Database Administrator (DBA) with Cosmos DB expertise focuses on managing high-performance globally distributed NoSQL databases within the Azure cloud environment alongside traditional relational database maintenance.

Manage monitor and maintain Azure Cosmos DB SQL server environments including provisioning patching and scaling
Designing implementing and optimizing Cosmos DB resource
Configure and maintain Cosmos DB and SQL server security including access control and encryption.
Design implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies for Cosmos DB and other Azure databases.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Hashicorp CDKTF and ARM templates
Understanding of Azure landing zones Azure Policies RBAC networking and identity integration
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate container builds and deployments
Support patching upgrades and lifecycle manage of container workloads

Job Description: Azure Cloud Engineer (Databases & DevOps Focus) Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer with 8 10 years of experience managing cloud-native environments database platforms and automated deployments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure services-particularly Cosmos DB and SQL Server-combined with strong Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD automation skills.

Key Responsibilities 1. Azure Solution Design & Deployment

Design deploy and manage Azure-based solutions with a focus on security scalability and high availability.
Implement architectural best practices across compute networking identity and governance.

2. Database Management (Cosmos DB & SQL Server)

Manage monitor and maintain Azure Cosmos DB and Azure SQL Server environments.

Handle provisioning patching performance optimization replication and scaling.

Configure and maintain database security including:

Access controls
Role-based permissions
Encryption (TDE data encryption at rest/in transit)

3. Backup Recovery & High Availability

Design and implement backup strategies disaster recovery plans and business continuity solutions for Azure database workloads.

Ensure compliance with RTO/RPO requirements.

4. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Implement and maintain IaC using:

HashiCorp CDK for Terraform (CDKTF)
ARM templates

Automate infrastructure provisioning and enforce governance policies.

5. Azure Governance & Cloud Foundations

Work with Azure Landing Zone concepts including:

Azure Policies
RBAC
Network architecture
Identity and access integration

Ensure adherence to organizational governance and cloud standards.

6. CI/CD for Containers & Application Deployments

Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate image builds container deployments and validation steps.

Optimize deployment workflows using Azure DevOps GitHub Actions or related tools.

7. Container Lifecycle & Maintenance

Support patching upgrades and lifecycle management for containerized workloads.

Ensure optimized performance and security of container environments.

8. Security & Compliance

Collaborate with security teams to:

Align with industry best practices
Implement security configurations
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory policies

Essential Skills

Strong background in designing and operating Azure cloud environments
Hands-on experience with Cosmos DB and Azure SQL Server
Proficiency in CDKTF and ARM templates for IaC
Experience with Azure security RBAC policies networking and identity
CI/CD pipeline development for containerized workloads
Strong understanding of cloud governance monitoring and operational excellence
