Job Summary
Azure Systems Administrator - VMware / Windows Server
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Server & Azure Administrator with strong hands on experience managing on premises Windows Server environments VMware virtualization platforms and Microsoft Azure infrastructure including Azure Virtual Machines. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability security performance and scalability of servers and cloud platforms that support business critical applications. The Senior Administrator will work closely with infrastructure security application and cloud teams to support hybrid environments and modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
On Premises Server & VMware Administration
Administer and support Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022 or later) including installation configuration patching and lifecycle management.
Manage VMware vSphere environments (ESXi vCenter) including VM provisioning resource optimization HA/DRS snapshots and upgrades.
Perform proactive monitoring troubleshooting and remediation of server storage and virtualization issues to meet SLA and uptime requirements.
Support Active Directory services including AD DS Group Policy DNS and DHCP.
Azure & Cloud Infrastructure Management
Deploy configure and manage Azure Virtual Machines and support infrastructure components.
Support hybrid environments integrating on premises servers with Azure (VPN ExpressRoute identity integration).
Assist with migrations from on prem VMware/Windows servers to Azure IaaS.
Implement and manage Azure services such as Azure Backup Azure Site Recovery Azure Monitor Azure Update Management and networking components.
Collaborate with cloud architects to ensure secure scalable and cost effective Azure solutions.
Security Backup & Disaster Recovery
Implement and maintain server security best practices including hardening patch compliance access controls and vulnerability remediation.
Design and support backup and disaster recovery solutions for on prem and Azure environments.
Participate in audits risk assessments and compliance initiatives.
Operations Support & Projects
Provide Tier 3 operational support incident management root cause analysis and problem resolution.
Support application go lives infrastructure upgrades cloud transitions and production cutovers.
Participate in on call rotations and planned maintenance activities.
Maintain clear documentation runbooks and standard operating procedures.
Automation & Collaboration
Utilize PowerShell and automation tools to streamline server and cloud administration tasks.
Work closely with network database application and security teams for integrated service delivery.
Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance as required.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
810 years of experience in server and infrastructure administration roles.
Strong expertise in Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
Hands on experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi vCenter) in production environments.
Working to strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure with emphasis on Azure Virtual Machines and hybrid deployments.
Experience with Active Directory file services server monitoring and patch management.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation.
Professional Skills
Strong troubleshooting analytical and problem solving abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Experience working in ITIL based operational environments and project driven engagements.
Strong ownership accountability and ability to work independently.
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience with Azure Migrate Azure Landing Zones or hybrid cloud architecture.
Exposure to Azure DevOps CI/CD or Infrastructure as Code (ARM Bicep Terraform).
VMware certifications.
Experience supporting regulated or high availability enterprise environments (utilities finance healthcare).
Must Have
Microsoft Azure certifications
