Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL)

THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) you will play a pivotal role in advancing scientific knowledge and improving patient care through non-promotional scientific exchange. You will serve as a field-based therapeutic and disease state expert responsible for supporting the companys strategic and scientific objectives. Your role will involve engaging in balanced scientific discussions with scientific leaders (SLs) regarding assigned products and therapeutic areas (TAs). You will play a critical role in collecting actionable insights on evolving standards of care and identifying unmet medical needs to inform portfolio strategies lifecycle management and our organizational strategies. You will translate global medical priorities and consolidated insights into localized strategies driving initiatives such as real-world data generation scientific communication and educational programs aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and access to healthcare. The MSL may have opportunities to support multiple countries based on company strategies.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Primary Responsibilities

Scientific Expertise and Engagements:

  • The MSL is responsible for ensuring that they are fully versed in the therapeutic area (TA) and updated on all major studies both ongoing and completed. This includes product information on the companys and other relevant therapies as well as clinical data and pipeline development to provide the most accurate information to Scientific Leaders (SLs) Key Decision Makers (KDMs) and the healthcare community in a balanced manner to improve patient care.

  • As a product and disease state expert the MSL engages in non-promotional scientific exchanges with SLs and KDMs.

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer communication by providing balanced medical and scientific information tailored to the professional interests and needs of SLs and KDMs on their roster.

  • Attend and participate in scientific congresses and meetings both in Malaysia and internationally to understand the role of emerging data in patient treatment within the therapeutic area covered.

  • Utilize scientific and medical expertise to communicate scientific information effectively in both individual and group presentations aligned with the Field Medical SOP.

  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical scientific pipeline and organizational product information from SLs or KDMs through appropriate channels utilizing appropriate approved scientific materials and ensuring proper documentation of these interactions.

  • Ensure that various engagement metrics both quantitative and qualitative are achieved.

Strategic Execution:

  • Prepare and execute the Country Medical Affairs Plans within the scope of local and global policies local rules and regulations and aligned with the Field Medical SOP

  • Adapt Global Value & Implementation (V&I) Goals and Strategies to the countrys context to support and lead initiatives in local real-world data generation facilitate scientific communication develop educational programs and other tactics and solutions to improve patient outcomes and enhancing access within the country.

  • Lead and support the preparation of non-promotional Medical Education Programs.

  • Execute country advisory boards and group input forums to inform company strategy.

  • Performing all company business in accordance with company policies and procedures and country regulations.

Internal Collaboration:

  • Provide strategic medical inputs and actionable insights internally on scientific gaps ideas and other topics gathered from scientific exchange to inform areas of interest clinical trial programs development programs and company TA and product strategy.

  • Deliver on-label medical insights and training to internal colleagues including information on the organizations and competitors products and disease states leveraging therapeutic knowledge.

Clinical Research Data Generation:

  • Work with Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO) to identify potential investigators/sites for Phase 1 2 and 3 clinical trials as appropriate.

  • Alert investigators to the Companys program for Investigator Initiated Study Proposals (MISP) and to the process for submitting investigator designed proposals for review and approval; encourage and facilitate research publication of MISP studies supported by the Company in strict compliance with global/local guidance regarding MISPs.

ABOUT YOU:

Skills Knowledge Experience & Qualifications required:

  • MD; PhD in health or life sciences; PharmD or a pharmacy degree.

  • Ability to think critically and strategically about the implications of scientific data and market trends.

  • 1-2 years in an in-field customer facing role and experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Clear and concise communication skills (verbal written presentations).

  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration in cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and a solid understanding of research methodology.

  • Learning agility with the ability convey medical/scientific information to healthcare professionals and decision-makers varying degrees of scientific acumen.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong trust-based relationships.

  • Knowledge of local pharmaceutical industry guidelines/code regulatory/reimbursement framework and clinical research guidelines (ICH-GCP Declaration of Helsinki).

  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 70% of the working week).
