Reports to: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: This contract is for approximately 9 months with salary and work year set according to the current school district calendar and salary schedule. Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Benefits according to Board Policy Includes: Health and life insurance beginning the first day of the month following contract start date option to purchase vision and dental insurance as well as supplemental insurance retirement plan and 10 personal days annually.
Purpose: To provide motivation and direct instruction for each student while maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
Qualifications: Valid DESE Certification in the current subject areas and appropriate grade level.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Know understand and abide by the rules and regulations and the policies and procedures of the School District and perform all duties accordingly. The faithful performance of said duties constitutes a binding part of the teachers contract with the school district.
- Displays enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward students colleagues subject matter and the school
- Establishes and maintains high expectation standards for all students and self
- Assume monitorial and supervisory duties as assigned to them by the principal(s)
- Arrive on time daily and leave no earlier than the time established by the principal(s) unless given circumstance specific permission or to attend to another school duty
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times and locations; protects each minute of instructional time
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning that includes classroom rules that allow for maintaining order discipline and learning
- Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of all students
- Plans both daily and long-range lesson plans that support Missouri Learning Standards and the stated educational goals of the district
- Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals by setting clear objectives for all lessons units projects etc.
- Employs a variety of instructional delivery methods and instructional media to help meet the educational needs of all students
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and provides timely legitimate feedback to students parents and administrators
- Writes and updates curriculum documents as assigned by the district administration
- Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations including but not limited to attendance lunch counts etc.
- Takes all precautions to protect students by actively participating in training students on district safety procedures
- Takes all precautions to protect district equipment supplies and facilities
- Works to identify learning difficulties of students seeking assistance from district specialists and/or administration as needed
- Encourages and actively supports a collaborative professional working environment
- Follows the district procedures for supply requisitions solicitation of funds or supplies through crowd source funding outlets; receives supplies and equipment so that they become part of the maintained classroom inventory
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism
- Attends and participates in all necessary meetings of the district and/or building
- Encourages student loyalty and pride in class and school
- Assists on committees; accepts a share of the responsibility for co-curricular activities and assumes other duties as reasonably requested by the principal(s) or superintendent
- Occasionally be required to work outdoors for short periods of time performing such tasks as loading and unloading students from district or parent transportation and supervising recess
- Takes pride in personal professional growth by actively pursuing and participating in a variety of professional development activities that support personal and district achievement goals
