Job Summary

Orientation and Training Services (OTS) within University College is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Graduate Assistant and to support the services function and mission of OTS and University College which includes Preview (freshman summer orientation) and Transfer Registration and Orientation Day (fall/spring orientations for transfer students). Graduate Assistants will also gain professional experience in higher education.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

1510 per month

Required Qualifications

1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at Must be a degree-seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in College Student Personnel Administration
3. Demonstration of excellent written and oral communication skills
4. Well-developed organizational skills
5. Sensitivity to relevant needs of first-year and transfer students
6. Familiarity with first-year experience programs and issues
7. Strong teamwork ethic
8. Creativity ingenuity initiative and positive attitude
9. Commitment to promoting diversity and student development

Work Hours

Up to 28 hours per week within 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday; some evening and weekend hours required.

You must be eligible for employment in the United States and at Illinois State University and/or for the number of hours required for the position.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session. Please contact the Office of International Student and Scholar Services for guidance on visa restrictions on work hours. The University cannot grant exceptions to visa status rules/laws.
