Applications are invited from individuals with experience of caring for and developing collections and individuals with a legal background.
Applications will be considered from people who may not have had previous experience of being on a board but have the ability and experience to contribute at a strategic level and the capacity and commitment to grow into the Trustee role and develop their skills.
Although we would welcome applications from anyone who believes they could make a strong contribution we are seeking to further broaden the diversity of the Board of Trustees to ensure it has broad geographical involvement and is more balanced in terms of protected characteristics.
As one of the leading museum groups in Europe and a key heritage and culture organisation in Scotland National Museums Scotland is responsible for a remarkable collection which brings together the arts and sciences and the cultures of Scotland and the world alongside the diversity of the natural world.
Combining a passion for sharing the stories of the objects in our care with world-class research and conservation our work reaches out across Scotland and 2024-25 we welcomed over 3.2 million visitors across our four museums and engaged a wide range of audiences through outreach and imaginative public programming. As a national centre of excellence we play a leading role in supporting the museum community across Scotland.
