The Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within the distribution category by developing and maintaining strong relationships with retail customers distributors and food service partners. This role focuses on achieving revenue tonnage and gross profit targets through proactive account management disciplined sales execution and exceptional customer service.
The Account Manager acts as a frontline representative of the company maintaining daily communication with customers and ensuring that product offerings align with market demand. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of fresh protein markets retail operations and pricing structures along with the ability to identify opportunities for upselling product expansion and new business development.
This position plays a critical role in executing the companys sales strategy providing market intelligence and collaborating closely with procurement logistics and marketing teams to ensure consistent supply competitive pricing and superior customer satisfaction.
Drive revenue growth within assigned accounts through consistent outbound sales activity and strategic account planning.
Achieve and exceed assigned tonnage margin and gross profit targets (GPAD).
Develop strong relationships with key retail buyers independent grocers and protein category decision makers.
Prospect and onboard new retail and distribution customers within the fresh protein category.
Identify opportunities to grow customer share through new product placements upselling and cross-selling.
Maintain regular communication with customers to anticipate demand address issues quickly and strengthen long-term relationships.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts delivering exceptional customer service and responsiveness.
Develop a deep understanding of each customers business model store format customer demographics and product needs.
Build long-term trust with customers through product knowledge reliability and market insight.
Manage customer expectations related to pricing availability lead times and product specifications.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records within the CRM system.
Maintain strong knowledge of the fresh protein market including pricing trends supply fluctuations and competitive activity.
Provide regular feedback to procurement and category teams regarding customer demand product performance and emerging market trends.
Act as a trusted advisor to customers by sharing relevant market updates and product insights.
Monitor competitor activity and identify opportunities for growth or differentiation.
Accurately enter and process customer orders while ensuring pricing and trade levels align with company policies.
Work closely with logistics and operations teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment and delivery.
Coordinate with procurement and category managers to secure product availability and optimize inventory flow.
Resolve customer issues quickly and effectively minimizing claims and operational disruptions.
Collaborate with procurement logistics marketing and finance teams to align sales activity with company objectives.
Support product launches promotional campaigns and marketing initiatives within assigned accounts.
Participate in sales meetings forecasting discussions and business planning sessions.
Contribute to the development of strategies that increase market share within the retail protein category.
Minimum 23 years of proven sales experience within protein fresh or food distribution sales environments.
Must be Bilingual ENGLISH AND MANDARIN
Demonstrated success managing retail accounts and achieving sales targets.
Experience selling fresh meat poultry seafood or protein products is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of retail grocery operations and fresh department merchandising.
