The Police Academy officially begins on September 28th and lasts for twenty-one (21) weeks. Recruits who make it to the Academy attend Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. It is not a live-in facility so recruits go home at the end of each day.
The first step is submitting an online questionnaire (aka the application). One (1) week after submitting (usually but give or take a few days) Police Recruiting staff will contact you regarding next steps in the process if you are chosen to move forward. The steps are as follows:
- Application
- Physical and written tests
- Written boards
- Oral interview boards
- Interview with the Chief of Police
- Background investigation
- Job offer
- Testing
- Pension physicals
- Psychological testing
- Polygraph

Starting Salary: $68481 (patrol top-out pay is $116860)
Minimum Qualifications
Twenty-one (21) years of age (but less than 46 years of age at Academy start date)
High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Good physical condition
United States citizen
Oklahoma State Drivers License (or be able to obtain one)
Driving record acceptable to the Citys insurance carrier
Excellent history of personal conduct behavior and employment
Basic knowledge of computer use
