Job Summary

Educational Support Professional (Paraeducator) - Stafford Childrens CenterPosition SummaryStafford Technical Center offers fourteen full-day technical education programs that allow high school students to earn college credit and industry certifications while preparing for higher education or careers in business and industry. The Stafford Childrens Center located within the technical center provides a unique hands-on learning environment where preschool children receive high-quality early childhood education while high school students in the Education & Human Services program gain real-world experience working with young learners. This position plays an important dual role: supporting the daily care and learning of preschool-aged children while modeling professional early childhood practices for high school students preparing for careers in education and human services. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with young children demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills and contribute to a positive nurturing and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support preschool-aged children in a safe engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Assist the classroom instructor in implementing daily activities routines and learning experiences.
  • Support childrens social emotional cognitive and physical development through positive guidance and interaction.
  • Model professional workplace behaviors and early childhood education practices for high school students enrolled in the Education & Human Services program.
  • Assist students in understanding appropriate classroom procedures child engagement strategies and professional expectations.
  • Monitor classroom activities and ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Support classroom organization preparation of materials and maintenance of a clean and welcoming learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with teaching staff technical center students and program leadership
  • Use basic computer or technology tools to support classroom documentation communication and program needs.

  • The ability to serve as a professional role model for high school students exploring careers in education.
  • Organization flexibility and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent OR Certificate of completion from an Education & Human Services program required.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3 -5) in inclusive settings preferred.
State Requirements
  • 9-hour Orientation Training
  • Mandated Reporter Certification
  • Pediatric First Aid & CPR
  • Fingerprinting and comprehensive background check received and clear prior to starting
Physical RequirementsPosition is regularly required to sit stand stoop kneel crouch walk up & down stairs while moving throughout the building. Position requires occasional lifting and occasional physical intervention with students. Due to computer work and documentation dexterity and eye-hand function must in normal range with or without correction. Regular reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
