Reporting to the Manager Corporate Finance and Reporting the Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) provides financial insight that is instrumental to drive organizational objectives. The SFA is a key point of contact for the organizations business leaders and represents finance on a cross-functional team for the day-to-day basics through to strategic initiatives.
This role provides analytical support within Corporate Finance and Reporting and is responsible for financial and statistical reporting to the Ministry of Health Ontario Health Central West LHIN and other internal and external stakeholders. This role works closely with leaders to ensure the reporting of actual and planned results is accurate and completed on a timely basis. Uses knowledge of Ontario Cost Distribution Methodology (OCDM) Ontario Hospital Reporting Standards (OHRS) Management Information System (MIS) Ontario Case Costing Initiative (OCCI) etc. reporting frameworks to make recommendations that ensure the highest level of data quality to support financial and operational decision making. It provides analysis of trends of the financial and operational performance of the organization as compared to hospital accountability performance standards and as benchmarked against peers.
The successful candidate has expert knowledge of the MIS Trial Balance and Self Reporting Initiative (SRI) submissions is a champion of internal controls and takes initiative to review policies and processes to identify opportunities and further enhance the quality of the hospital datasets and reported results.
Confident and effective interpersonal and communication skills allow them to identify and deliver relevant information incorporating actual financial and statistical analysis. As a subject matter expert the SFA must be able to present information accurately and concisely be attentive to detail work independently on time sensitive tasks and manage multiple priorities within short turnaround times.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain a framework for timely accurate and comprehensive preparation of the hospitals MIS Trial Balance submission
- Oversee the statistical General Ledger including responsibilities of activity data quality ensuring integrity of the statistical data and compliance to the OHRS/MIS Standards
- Assess and implement OHRS/MIS Standards updates to internal and external reporting
- Lead train and educate other team members on OCDM MIS reporting requirements and updates to standards
- Responsible in the development of statistical reporting dealing with ad hoc requests on activity analysis trending and benchmarking etc. for both internal and external clients
- Deliver timely accurate and useful financial data for the organization within designated time frames (i.e. weekly monthly) as well as ad hoc reports as requested by management
- Analyze and prepare month end results reporting including but not limited to analysis of variances month over month and actual to plan
- Support the corporate month-end and year-end financial close processes including posting of sub-ledgers and journal entry preparation combined with analysis of results
- Coordinate financial processes or projects and work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team Case Costing and Decision Support teams
- Interpret Ministry of Health funding letters and agreements
- Develop and implement financial models and improve processes to better meet the needs of the organization
- Accurate preparation and interpretation of financial/statistical reports for the Ministry of Health and other funding agencies
- Provide support and guidance to hospital programs and promote collaboration and teamwork
- Review financial results and provide value added analysis while maintaining a high customer satisfaction performance level
- Prepare account reconciliations on a monthly quarterly and annual basis supported by appropriate documentation and audit trail
- Develop systems and processes to improve process and policy review combined with compliance and internal control testing
- Support as required the development of the annual Operating Plan the Long Range Plan and periodic forecasts; challenge results and projections to identify lack of consistency with current economic trends and/or hospital strategies
- Prepare year-end working papers for external auditors working with external auditors to provide timely and accurate information
- Ad hoc projects as assigned
- Required to travel between sites
Qualifications :
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards the designation
- Experience in Healthcare sector
- Experience with Ministry of Health Reporting Management Information System Guidelines Ontario Hospital Reporting Standards and Ontario Cost Distribution Methodology
- Minimum 5 years experience in an analytical role
- Highly motivated self-starter creative and results oriented
- Ability to think strategically and systematically with strong critical thinking problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to work under tight timelines while ensuring focus on deadlines and key deliverables
- Strong oral interpersonal and written communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of Excel Word and MS Access including financial modelling
- Proven ability to manage multiple and competing projects effectively
- Meditech system experience preferred

Hours: Currently Days Monday to Friday (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Minimum: $101517.00 per hour
Maximum: $126886.50 per hour
