Position Summary:
The Emergency Trauma Nurse Technician provides direct patient-care support within the Emergency/Trauma Center under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role assists with basic treatments procedures patient monitoring and comfort measures for individuals experiencing emergent or urgent conditions. Working closely with nurses and the interdisciplinary emergency care team the Emergency Trauma Nurse Technician helps maintain a well-organized responsive care environment by supporting patient flow communication and readiness. The role also performs essential clerical tasks and ensures supplies equipment and treatment rooms are properly stocked and prepared to support efficient care delivery. This position contributes to a collaborative fast-paced team setting and reinforces Trinity Healths commitment to safe timely and compassionate emergency services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the RN and provider team with basic patient-care tasks including obtaining vital signs performing hygiene and comfort measures and supporting procedures as delegated.
- Prepare and stock treatment rooms supplies and equipment to ensure readiness for trauma and emergency interventions.
- Perform routine tasks such as specimen collection point-of-care testing splinting assistance wound care support and patient transport in accordance with competency and RN direction.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned tasks and communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
- Support clerical functions including answering call lights managing phones and assisting with patient flow and coordination.
- Adhere to infection-prevention standards safety protocols and emergency-department workflows to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- ND CNA certification or ND EMR certification or ND EMT or NREMT or ND Paramedic or NRP is required upon hire.
- If NREMT or NRP must be eligible for ND licensure and license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- CPR certification required within orientation period
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Experience Requirements:
- EMT/EMR/CNA/Paramedic experience preferred
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Knowledge of medical terminology desired Communication skills numerical ability clerical perception visual and hearing acuity interpersonal skills
