DescriptionUnder supervision the Electrician I within Facilities Services Maintenance and Repairs performs general electrical work on electrical systems facilities appliances and related electronic controls according to the National Electrical Code. This individual will read blue prints and electrical schematic drawings and will be responsible for the troubleshooting of electrical and life safety systems.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical diagrams.
- Help with routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems.
- Assist with the installation of electrical wiring fixtures and equipment in residential commercial and industrial settings.
- Support the troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and components as well as the electrical and life safety systems throughout campus.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and circuits to check for proper operation loose connections overheating tripping circuits leaking insulation arcing alignment lubrication and vibration.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience:
- Three to four years working experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in relevant field to include completion of technical training or apprenticeship program. Note: Education may be substituted for experience on a year-to-year basis
- Knowledge Skills Abilities:
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code.
- Ability to lift and pull heavy objects.
- Must have the skill to troubleshoot Electrical and Life Safety systems.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Have the ability to operate different types of tools and equipment.
- Ability to use test and metering equipment.
- Other Conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Education:
- Vocational or technical training in a related field
