Position Summary The University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for a Nursing Clinical Coordinator. The position begins April 1 2026 or when filled.
The Nursing Clinical Coordinator supports clinical education for students across nursing programs with a primary focus on graduate nursing. This position works closely with students beginning in their first semester to guide the clinical placement process ensure completion of clinical requirements and support timely progression through the program.
The Clinical Coordinator collaborates with faculty program leadership clinical partners and university offices to manage clinical placements onboarding and compliance processes and clinical affiliation documentation. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical data including entry and monitoring of student preceptor and placement information in the Typhon clinical tracking system and to support reporting accreditation and continuous program improvement. |
Duties/Responsibilities - Support all graduate nursing students from their first semester through program completion by guiding them through the clinical placement process including timelines site requirements expectations and issue resolution.
- Coordinate and monitor clinical placements to ensure students meet required clinical hours stay on track academically and have a clear point of contact for placement questions and documentation needs.
- Track and monitor student clinical requirements on an ongoing basis including immunizations licensure certifications background checks and facility-specific training.
- Monitor clinical application and onboarding deadlines and proactively communicate submission requirements to students.
- Complete and submit required clinical onboarding documentation through third-party platforms as required by clinical partners.
- Facilitate the collection and organization of documentation necessary to establish maintain and renew clinical affiliation agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs).
- Collaborate with the nursing leadership University Risk Management and other institutional offices to support clinical contracting and compliance processes.
- Maintain organized accurate and auditable clinical records in accordance with university policies accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with faculty program directors and program leadership to align clinical placements with course objectives student learning outcomes and program needs.
- Facilitate discussions with prospective and current students regarding graduate nursing programs and clinical education requirements.
- Provide regular updates to program leadership regarding clinical placement status compliance trends and emerging issues related to clinical education.
- Assist with data tracking and reporting related to clinical placement outcomes site utilization and student progression in collaboration with program leadership.
- Enter maintain and monitor clinical placement student and preceptor data in Typhon and other clinical tracking systems used by the university to support compliance reporting and accreditation requirements.
- Support accreditation program evaluation and continuous quality improvement efforts through accurate clinical data management.
- Identify potential clinical barriers or compliance issues early and assist with problem-solving to support student success.
- Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of clinical education processes to enhance efficiency communication and the overall student experience.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills - Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required; preferred majors include nursing health sciences healthcare administration or a related field.
- Experience using computer applications including word processing spreadsheets databases electronic mail internet-based platforms and data management systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students faculty clinical partners and university offices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy particularly when managing compliance-related documentation and records.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain a professional composed demeanor while meeting deadlines and achieving critical outcomes even under demanding conditions such as multiple priorities busy schedules and short notice requests.
- Ability to learn new systems procedures and responsibilities within a short timeframe.
- Demonstrated strong relationship-building poise and persuasive skills to ensure continued cooperation of educators meeting USI needs by participating in clinical programs.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills - Experience working in graduate nursing education health professions education or academic clinical coordination.
- Knowledge of clinical placement processes clinical onboarding requirements and compliance expectations within healthcare education programs.
- Experience using clinical tracking and compliance systems such as Typhon MyClinicalExchange Bridges or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with clinical affiliation agreements memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and coordination with university contracting or risk management offices.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards related to clinical education in nursing or health professions programs (e.g. CCNE or similar accrediting bodies).
- Experience collaborating with healthcare systems clinical sites and community partners.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements - Standard work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Work hours may be adjusted as needed to support program coverage clinical deadlines or operational needs.
- Occasional schedule adjustments evening hours or overtime may be required to meet program and clinical obligations.
- Limited local travel may be required to support clinical site relationships meetings or university-related activities.
