JOB GOAL:
The focus of this position is leading a high-needs self-contained unit comprising two half-day sessions supporting up to three students per session. The primary goal is to provide a safe structured and therapeutic learning environment for students requiring intensive sensory and behavioral support. This role demands a high level of physical and mental resilience to manage high-intensity and crisis situations prioritizing de-escalation and student dignity to ensure a secure environment for students and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented with other duties as assigned by the Supervisor which does not conflict with the Master Agreement between NCSD and NCCTA.
Manage a specialized classroom flow for two distinct cohorts daily tailoring 1:1 and small-group interventions.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Utilize prior experience and knowledge gained in Special Education settings (self-contained preferred) to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and data-driven behavior plans.
- Ability and willingness to complete all specialized training required to fulfill the needs of this unit.
- Maintain constant vigilance to prevent elopement attempts and manage physical aggression with professional composure.
Demonstrate the physical agility to perform physical interventions holds and disengagements and respond quickly to elopement or aggressive behaviors.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education Training and Experience:
- Maintain full Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training and annual certification.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
Valid Nevada Teaching License*
Valid Nevada Drivers License
CPR/First Aid/AED Certification is required for physical education special education and career & technical education teaching assignments
Start Date: 2026-2027 school year.Successful candidate must complete a thorough background check and pass mandatory pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
