Job Description:

Join the Nebraska Department of Education as a Grant Audit Specialist and help safeguard the funding that supports schools across this role you will conduct onsite and desk audits to ensure federal and state grant funds are used appropriately and in compliance with regulatory requirements. You will also provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders offering guidance on federal regulations and financial best practices.

We are seeking candidates with exceptional attention to detail outstanding customer service and communication skills and substantial experience in financial accounting or auditing. If you have a background working with financial statements general ledgers budgets and regulatory standards and want to make a meaningful impact in education we would love to hear from you.

Office Location: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St Lincoln NE.

Pay Grade 7: $30.597/hour

This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate.

  • Essential Functions

    Working Conditions and Travel:

    This position requires approximately 80% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 20% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools other educational entities conferences and meetings. There is also approximately eight days of overnight travel per year.

    Requirements / Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related field (Accounting Finance etc.) and two years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education andor work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

    Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Accounting or related field (including at least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing) and at least four years of experience with budget grant review or compliance in government or non-profit accounting.
