JobGoal(s):
The School Counselor provides academic social-emotional and behavioral support to ninth-grade students and coordinates the implementation of the Building Assets Reducing Risks (BARR) Model. The counselor collaborates with teachers administrators and families to monitor student progress identify barriers to success and implement interventions that promote student achievement and well-being.
Qualifications
- Strong collaboration communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with data-driven student support systems preferred.
Certifications
- State certification/licensure as a School Counselor.
- Valid Maine DOE backgroundcheck known as a CHRC
Performance Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to Grade 9 students.
- Support students with academic planning transition to high school and goal setting.
- Coordinate and facilitate implementation of theBuilding Assets Reducing Risks (BARR) Model.
- Lead regular BARR meetings with Grade 9 staff to review student progress and identify supports.
- Monitor student data including academics attendance and behavior to guide interventions.
- Communicate with families and collaborate with teachers and student support staff.
- Refer students to appropriate school or community resources when needed.
- Maintain counseling records and documentation in accordance with school policies.
Education
- Masters degree in School Counseling or related field.
Experience
- 2 years experience prefered
Working Schedule
- 190 days - School year plus 10 days
