School Nutrition Operations Coordinator is a detail-oriented and highly organized professional to support school nutrition operations in a
part time temporary maternity leave coverage role April 1 2026 - August 28 2026. This role ensures continuity of food service ordering vendor coordination compliance documentation and financial approvals.
Essential Functions- Meeting Requirements (2.5 hrs /wk)
- Attend Mandatory Metro North bid meetings in person. Dates: April 8 May 6 June 10
- Conduct weekly in-person check-ins with kitchen leads
Vendor Ordering & Invoice Management (8 hrs /wk)- Manage and oversee food and supply ordering across multiple vendors
- Submit weekly orders to vendor on scheduled days
- Adjust orders based on volume and kitchen needs
- Review invoices for pricing accuracy and approve invoices in
- Approve invoices for SFSPac (sanitation) and SchoolCafe (POS system)
- Support business office with onboarding new vendors (if changes occur through Metro North bid process)
- Communicate with new vendors as needed
Documentation & Compliance (1 hr/week)- Run monthly meal count reports in SchoolCafe
- Verify SchoolCafe entries submitted by lead kitchen staff
- Submit monthly State Reporting with DESE on meal counts for Breakfast Lunch Afterschool Snack and Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Program
- Complete Severe Need calculation
CEP & Program Compliance Support (1 hr/wk)- Assist Director with CEP documentation submission through DESE portal
- Maintain compliance documentation and reporting accuracy
Wellness Policy Support (1 hr/wk)- Assist Director in updating and maintaining the School Wellness Policy document

Knowledge Skills and Experience Required- Experience in food service operations school nutrition programs required
- Familiarity with DESE reporting requirements (preferred)
- Experience with invoice management systems ( preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines and vendor communications
- Comfort working independently in a part-time capacity

- Commitment to working with students and families from diverse backgrounds with diverse profiles
Physical Requirements- Frequent sitting standing walking reaching with hands and arms to stoop kneel or crouch
- Regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
Other Requirements- Must have reliable transportation/access to travel for the metro north meetings (held at schools on the north shore)
