Full Stack Engineering Specialist

Location: Chicago IL (Hybrid)

Overview

Our client is seeking a Full Stack Engineering Specialist to build and enhance both backend services and modern web interfaces supporting a real-time financial technology platform.

This role will work across the full technology stack developing scalable backend services while also building responsive front-end applications that interact with real-time data streams. The position requires a strong backend foundation combined with experience developing modern user-facing applications.

Responsibilities Full Stack Development

Develop and maintain backend services supporting core business workflows.
Build and enhance responsive front-end applications that interact with backend APIs and real-time data streams.
Design scalable services and APIs that support high-performance distributed systems.

Backend Systems

Implement high-performance backend services responsible for transactional workflows.
Build distributed systems leveraging Kafka PostgreSQL and microservices architectures.
Develop APIs using REST and WebSocket protocols for real-time application interaction.

Front-End Engineering

Develop modern user interfaces using contemporary web frameworks.
Implement front-end components that process and display large volumes of real-time data.
Optimize UI performance for high-frequency updates and responsive interactions.

Collaboration & Delivery

Collaborate with product managers engineers and architects to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
Participate in system design discussions and contribute to engineering best practices.
Support monitoring troubleshooting and operational stability of production systems.

Qualifications

5 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong backend development experience using Java
Experience building distributed backend systems
Experience building responsive web applications using modern frameworks
Experience designing APIs and integrating real-time data systems
Experience working with event-driven architectures

Preferred

Experience with high-throughput or low-latency systems
Experience building real-time dashboards or data-heavy applications
Experience with WebSockets or streaming data pipelines
