EAD is looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to assist in providing engineering support for various industrial and commercial projects including: engineering calculations power distribution lighting design controls design and power analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and modify drawings specifications calculations charts and graphs and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
- Electrical design with primary responsibilities of power lighting and grounding per client requirements
- Provide studies of power quality short circuit coordination and arc flash hazard analysis
- Development of capital expenditure cost estimates for design/build projects
- Coordinating with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects which often includes architects mechanical process civil and structural engineers
- Work with designers and drafters to produce detailed designs
- Resolve design and development problems
- Work with a team to deliver quality construction documentation specifications schematics power and lighting plans one-lines etc.
- Interface with clients utility companies construction administrators project team and vendors
- Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development
- Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
- Responsible for adhering to all EADs safety standards and practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- 6 years experience in electrical design of industrial and commercial projects
- Licensed Professional Engineer certification
- Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
- Knowledge of the NEC NFPA and IEEE standards
- Possess organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and in-house support staff
- Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Possess and able to maintain a valid drivers license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Working Conditions:
- Office plant or client site environment*
- Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
- May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
- Office Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals*
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
- Periodic weekend holiday or evening work as needed
- Travel and/or field experience required
*EAD will provide training administrative/engineering controls and personal protective equipment as necessary.
