The Controller will lead the companys accounting and financial management functions overseeing all accounting operations including financial reporting and providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Manage all day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger maintenance.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions within the companys accounting system.
Maintain the integrity of financial data and ensure proper documentation for all financial activities.
Oversee reconciliation of accounts bank statements and financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements for leadership review.
Analyze financial results and provide insight into key trends variances and operational performance.
Provide financial reports and data that support informed decision-making by leadership.
Ensure financial reports are accurate timely and aligned with generally accepted accounting principles.
Cash Flow & Financial Management
Monitor company cash flow and maintain visibility into the organizations financial position.
Assist leadership in planning and managing financial resources to support operational needs.
Ensure proper financial controls are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain financial discipline.
Coordinate with external accounting firms tax professionals or auditors when necessary.
Provide insight into operational costs and opportunities for improved financial efficiency.
Strategic Financial Support
Work closely with the President to support budgeting financial planning and business strategy.
Assist with financial forecasting and long-term financial planning.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.
Support leadership in evaluating financial risks and opportunities related to business growth.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
7 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
Prior Controller or senior accounting experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and financial reporting systems.
Experience in food manufacturing food distribution or inventory-based businesses preferred.
Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a small business environment.
Strong analytical organizational and communication skills.
