Under the direction of the Principal of Curriculum and Assessment the Indigenous EducationLearning Partner (K-12) will collaborate with school staff in building capacity forFNMI programming at all grade levels. To a ssist s taff to implement Ministry and system curriculum initiatives for Indigenous StudentIdentification Policies and assist with the implementation for the First Nation Metis and Inuit Education Policy framework.
Responsibilities:
To work with Principals and teachers to align curriculum delivery of Indigenous Language and Indigenous Studies courses.
To work with the Indigenous Education Advisory Committee and community partners to support teachers and students in Indigenous Education.
To develop materials and resources and assist with the implementation of teaching strategies to assist in the delivery of Indigenous Language Indigenous Studies Courses
To provide training and support classroom teachers with implementing Indigenous pedagogy (K-12)
To work with other Learning Partners to co-plan facilitate and support system wide initiatives in support of Indigenous education.
To work with other Learning Partners to co-plan facilitate and support learning for principals teachers and students in support of Indigenous Education
To facilitate the planning and implementation of appropriate professional learning activities for school and system staff with respect to Indigenous learning opportunities
To support projects related to Indigenous student leadership and student wellbeingand community outreach projects.
Assist with facilitating and coordinating well-being supports for students who are Indigenous learners.
Effectively communicate and work with school staff community resources and other Board staff regarding student programming
Working with and fostering Indigenous community partners to support staff professional development and meeting the needs of Indigenous students
Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario curriculum Grades K 12 and First Nations Metis and Inuit Connections and Scope and Sequence of Expectations
Knowledge and application of differentiated instruction and assessment and evaluation that informs teaching practice
Knowledge of Indigenous pedagogy and Indigenous perspectives
Excellent organization presentation and time management skills
Effective interpersonal and team building skills
Professional demonstration of Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession
