Job Summary/Description:
Ever wondered what its actually like to be in the middle of a breaking news story Were looking for a Newsroom Intern at WLBT who is ready to dive headfirst into the world of local journalism. Youll be right in the heart of Jackson MS learning how we tell stories that matter across TV streaming and social media. If youre curious scrappy and ready to see how the news is made from the inside out we want to meet you.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Spend time with the reporters producers and photographers to see how a story is completed
- Help craft stories for our website and social platforms
- Head out on assignments gather information and conduct interviews
- Get hands-on experience with newsroom systems to help build rundowns and write scripts
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college/university (preferred Junior/Senior)
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Earning a degree in Journalism or Communications with a desire to get hands-on experience in the broadcasting & digital field
