Purpose: Assist in completing tasks related to upkeep and repair of school buildings and grounds; including routine maintenance minor repairs and assisting with larger projects.
Terms of Employment: 12 Month as established by the employment contract; hourly wage. Paid leave and holidays are noted in the classified handbook.
Contract Type: Classified / At will (Two weeks notice)
Responsible to: Director of Maintenance and Superintendent
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
- Be able to follow directions.
- Ability to work with students and staff in a positive manner.
- Basic understanding and ability in maintenance and preventative maintenance of machines.
- Possess basic knowledge of equipment and machinery operations.
- Preferred Welding. Electrical and or HVAC knowledge.
- Preferred strong leadership and technology skills.
Essential Functions:
- General building maintenance and repairs.
- Must be able to operate all equipment and machinery as required.
- Comply with all board policies and regulations in the Classified Staff Handbook.
- Welding and repair.
- Electrical installation and troubleshooting.
- HVAC troubleshooting.
- Assist with as needed: mowing trimming and general grounds maintenance.
- Clear snow from walkways and steps during inclement weather.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
- Keep buildings and premises neat and clean.
General Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare grounds for outdoor activities (including athletics).
- Knowledge and ability to complete general repairs of buildings and equipment and promptly report needed major repairs and/or damaged school property to the Director of Maintenance.
- Move furniture or equipment within the building premises as required for various activities.
- Sweep shovel and sand walks as appropriate.
- Ability to regulate heat ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season ensure economical usage of fuel water and electricity and maintain mechanical equipment as directed.
- Maintain district vehicles.
- Keep watch of and report unauthorized persons on the school premises to the principal.
- Keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
- Adhere to all district health and safety policies including the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance Building Principal or Superintendent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk on level surfaces as well as climb up and down stairs.
- Manually move lift carry push or pull heavy objects or materials.
- Must be able to stoop bend and reach.
- Requires the full range of motion with neck shoulders elbows wrists back torso knees and ankles.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds repeatedly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round in a variety of temperatures.
