Job Summary
Position Purpose:
The Maintenance Technician I performs routine maintenance repair and preventive maintenance activities on water and wastewater treatment plant equipment facilities and systems to ensure safe efficient and compliant operations.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance on pumps motors valves blowers and other mechanical equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Repair and replace defective parts components and equipment.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems including motors control panels and lighting.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs and installations.
- Lubricate equipment and machinery according to maintenance schedules.
- Assist with emergency repairs and respond to after-hours callouts as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work order documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and plant standard operating procedures.
- Perform grounds maintenance including mowing trimming and general housekeeping.
- Assist senior maintenance staff with complex repairs and projects.
- Operate plant equipment as needed during maintenance activities.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work around wastewater chemicals and odors.
- Work performed primarily at wastewater treatment plant facility.
- Exposure to wastewater chemicals noise and varying weather conditions.
- May require rotating shifts weekends holidays and on-call duty.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Qualifications :
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- 1-2 years of maintenance experience in industrial municipal or wastewater treatment setting preferred.
- Entry-level candidates with relevant training will be considered.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical electrical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals blueprints and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance preferred.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Wastewater treatment plant operator certification (or ability to obtain within specified timeframe) may be required.
- OSHA safety certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to stand walk bend and kneel for extended periods.
Additional Information :
Pay Range: $27.00 to $32.00 per hour.
