Introduction
You will contribute to the Future Circular Collider (FCC)the organisations next flagship projectby overseeing and coordinating the environmental evaluation studies required for the authorisation process including the environmental impact assessments for a new cross-border particle accelerator project in accordance with French and Swiss regulatory requirements. This includes managing and monitoring contracts with consulting firms.
Functions
- Ensure technical and administrative coordination between the appointed consulting firms and guarantee the overall consistency of the environmental evaluation for both France and Switzerland.
- Ensure regulatory compliance of the environmental evaluation study in accordance with the French Environmental Code and Swiss legislation on environmental impact assessments (EIE).
- Organise and chair follow-up technical committees with experts and ensure the traceability of decisions.
- Contribute to the multi-criteria impact analysis as well as the integration of avoidance reduction and compensation measures.
- Seek and integrate the feedback of the French and Swiss authorities technically involved on the project.
- Monitor the schedule budget and deliverables ensuring the quality of the produced documents.
- Share knowledge inform and proactively raise awareness among the Project Office and CERN management on the public concerns.
Qualifications :
Masters degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Environmental Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
Demonstrated experience:
- In environmental evaluation processes for complex / large scale projects in France.
- In providing technical and management expertise in environmental protection.
- In the technical application of French and/or Swiss environmental regulations.
- In coordinating multidisciplinary consulting firms.
- In liaising with environmental authorities technical partners and other relevant internal and external stakeholders.
The following experience would be an asset:
- Working as an environmental engineer on a cross-border large-scale project.
Technical competencies:
- Contract management.
- Project management.
- Environmental protection.
- Stakeholder relationship management.
- Knowledge of EU regulations in particular French and Swiss environment regulations and institutional framework and authorisation procedures).
- Drafting and writing technical documents.
- Solid understanding of environmental assessment methods and ability to analyse interactions between environmental components.
