Position Overview
A healthcare facility in Calais ME is seeking an experienced Surgical Services Manager / OR Scrub to oversee operations within the Surgical Services Department. This role is responsible for managing perioperative services ensuring quality patient care and supporting surgical procedures when needed.
Working under the direction of the Chief Quality & Nursing Officer the Surgical Services Manager will provide leadership make administrative decisions within their scope of responsibility and ensure compliance with established standards of care policies and procedures. The role requires maintaining strict confidentiality while supporting the organizations mission vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Surgical Services Department.
Ensure delivery of safe high-quality age-appropriate patient care in the surgical environment.
Provide leadership and supervision to surgical services staff.
Make administrative and clinical decisions in accordance with hospital policies and standards of care.
Maintain compliance with regulatory quality and patient safety standards.
Participate in surgical procedures by scrubbing in when required including general and orthopedic surgeries.
Coordinate with surgeons anesthesia providers nursing staff and other departments to ensure efficient surgical operations.
Handle staff coordination conflict resolution and operational challenges within the department.
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold strict confidentiality standards.
Perform additional duties or projects as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Education & Certifications
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License State of Maine.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required (may obtain within 6 months of hire).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required (may obtain within 6 months of hire).
CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification required.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years of perioperative nursing experience.
Ability to scrub in for general and orthopedic surgeries.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Advanced computer and documentation skills.
Demonstrated clinical proficiency in perioperative patient care using the nursing process.
Excellent communication organization and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
