Shift: Evening Shift 3:00 PM to 11:15 PM
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule Requirement: Every Other Weekend Required
Float Requirement: Must be able to float to all Medical-Surgical units

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support nursing staff in delivering quality patient care in a hospital setting. The PCA will assist with daily patient activities monitor patient conditions and help maintain a safe and comfortable care environment. The ideal candidate will have prior hospital experience and the ability to work effectively within a healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care Support

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding bathing toileting and mobility.

  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure pulse temperature and respirations.

  • Document patient intake and output and report changes in condition to nursing staff.

  • Assess and record patient pain levels using standard pain scales.

Clinical Assistance

  • Perform basic clinical procedures including specimen collection venipuncture and EKGs.

  • Assist with the application of compression devices and monitor skin integrity.

  • Provide post-mortem care when required.

  • Support nurses during patient procedures and treatments.

Patient Safety

  • Conduct routine patient rounding to ensure comfort and safety.

  • Assist patients with ambulation and mobility support.

  • Follow isolation precautions as directed by nursing staff.

  • Provide close observation for patients at risk of falls or self-harm.

Unit & Environment Support

  • Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment.

  • Assist with room preparation equipment cleaning and bed setup.

  • Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers.

  • Support specimen transport and equipment preparation.

Communication & Coordination

  • Respond to patient call systems and communicate patient needs to clinical staff.

  • Assist with patient admissions transfers and discharges.

  • Collaborate with nurses and healthcare teams to support effective patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Prior hospital experience

  • BLS or Heartsaver Certification from the American Heart Association

  • Ability to complete required orientation and training program

Preferred Qualifications

  • 39 months of patient care or healthcare experience

  • Experience working in Medical-Surgical units

  • Familiarity with electronic clinical documentation systems
