Job Summary:The BCBA assists teams in behavior management with the goal to keeps students in the general education setting.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the development of FBAs and BIPs
Recommend positive behavior supports for students with autism and behavior disorders;
Develop and implement quantitative behavior data collection systems
Monitor and provide support for staff in use of ABA strategies and procedures.
Model and train staff in the implementation of ABA strategies
There are two noncontinuing leave replacement assignments approximated to begin in May of 2026 and continue through the end of the 2025-26 school year.
Salary:2025-26 Northshore Education Association (NSEA) Salary SchedulePlacement on the salary schedule is determined by official documentation verifying educational level and work experience. Salary will be prorated for less than a full-year and/or part-time employees.
Minimum Qualifications: The BCBA position requires a teaching certificate with the Special Ed endorsement or an ESA BCBA certificate. An ESA BCBA certificate is preferred but not experience in teaching a culturally racially and economically diverse student population in a large school system. Previous experience working with students diagnosed with autism and social emotional disabilities. Advanced understanding and skill in best practice instruction and the use of instructional technology. Demonstrated strength in classroom management. Demonstrated success in working collaboratively and being an effective team member. Ability to articulate rationale for teaching methods analyze research data and align thinking with best practices research-based reform and learning from a students perspective. Ability to work cooperatively with staff in all areas (e.g. Special Education Title I ELL EAP)
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of developmental needs of students within assigned age range; knowledge of subject matter content and pedagogy; classroom management and organizational skills; skill in conflict resolution; ability to implement district adopted curriculum; ability to maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to adapt to changes quickly; ability to be an effective and collaborative member of a team; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to improve professional skills; ability to effectively use and integrate technology into curriculum; ability to learn new policies and procedures quickly; ability to maintain WA State Teaching Certificate.
Working Conditions:Works in a classroom setting; must be able to bend kneel stoop and lift and carry objects typically weighing ten pounds or less; required to stand for extended periods of time; frequently reaches below shoulder height; occasionally pushes or pulls objects; frequently required to use sufficient manual dexterity to operate controls and computer keyboard and handle books and other materials; exposure to infectious diseases; may be required to attend meetings or activities beyond normal work day.
Licenses/Special Requirements:The BCBA position requires a teaching certificate with the Special Ed endorsement or an ESA BCBA certificate. An ESA BCBA certificate is preferred but not required.
Benefits:Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement packagefor eligible positions. Generally you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
