OceanScore acts as the appointed Administrator of the Environmental Ship Index (ESI) one of the most widely recognised environmental performance frameworks in global shipping on behalf of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH). As Marine Verification Manager you contribute to the integrity and credibility of the ESI by ensuring that environmental performance data submitted by participating vessels is accurate reliable and assessed consistently. Through carrying out remote verification or coordinating third-party onboarding verification where required and act as a technical point of contact for shipping companies ports and verification partners worldwide you support the robustness of the ESI framework and leverage its credibility.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Technical Verification of Vessel Data: You review and verify vessel environmental performance data submitted under the ESI framework ensuring consistency reliability and alignment with applicable regulations and certification standards.
- Coordination of Third-Party Verifications: You coordinate onboard verifications carried out by external surveyors where required ensuring findings are properly integrated into the verification process.
- Documentation Review & Compliance Assessment: You assess technical documentation related to engine certification emissions performance and fuel use. Identify inconsistencies gaps or risks in reported data.
- Remote Assessments & Verification Reporting: You conduct structured remote verification assessments and prepare clear well-documented verification reports including findings non-conformities and corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: You act as a technical contact for shipowners ship managers and maritime stakeholders to clarify verification findings and support the submission of accurate environmental performance data.
- Continuous Improvement of Verification Processes: You contribute to the ongoing development of ESI verification procedures including risk-based targeting and the transition to the ESI Core framework.
What You Bring
- You have a Marine Engineering Nautical or comparable maritime degree (MSc or BSc).
- You have gained at least 3-5 years of professional experience in the maritime industry for example as Technical Superintendent Classification Society Surveyor Flag or Port State Control Officer Designated Person Ashore (DPA) or ISM Internal Auditor.
- You have strong understanding of MARPOL Annex VI and ship emission regulations as well as IMO DCS EU MRV EU ETS or similar GHG reporting frameworks.
- You bring prior experience with ship verifications surveys or compliance audits and feel comfortable being the expert on technical ship documentation and operational vessel data.
- Experience with remote verifications alternative fuels or environmental compliance systems is an advantage.
