Job Summary
This position provides the opportunity to gain significant research experience with an emphasis on social behavior in an interdisciplinary lab environment to contribute to the project which aims to determine the molecular and circuit mechanisms of social behavior and their dysregulation in brain disorders. Under direct supervision performs experiments and procedures as assigned.
The associate researcher will join the project using rodent models to examine how manipulations of molecules or social activities change the social behaviors in normal animals or in brain disorder models. The associate researcher will work closely with other senior researchers in the lab to conduct behavioral experiment and histological experiments.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision conducts routine and standardized experiments using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
- Analyzes and assists in interpreting laboratory results.
- Performs assays to support research studies.
- Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory; may include ordering of supplies.
- Logs and tests samples; prepares and submits laboratory materials and specimens for shipment.
- Assists in the collection analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
- Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred or combination of relevant research experience and education
- 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience
