Job purpose

The Compliance and Privacy Specialist provides technical and administrative support to the Chief Compliance Officer in maintaining a culture of integrity and accountability. This role ensures the organization remains in constant alignment with Federal State and Accreditation standards through diligent auditing performance reporting and the promotion of continuous readiness across all clinical and administrative departments.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Program Development: Support the Chief Corporate Compliance Officer (CCO) in the development implementation and ongoing evaluation of the organizations Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare quarterly performance reports and maintain the monthly Compliance Dashboard to track progress against the annual Work Plan.
  • Auditing & Monitoring: Conduct inter-departmental audits system reviews and risk assessments as prioritized in the Work Plan or in response to emerging organizational issues.
  • Privacy Assistance: Assist the Privacy Officer with investigations into potential HIPAA violations and other privacy-related incidents.
  • Regulatory Analysis: Monitor federal and state regulatory changes that impact FHCHC and recommend necessary policy updates to ensure continued alignment.
  • Licensing Liaison: Act as the Compliance Departments on-site point of contact for licensing visits and inspections by various regulatory authorities.
  • Continuous Readiness: Provide technical assistance across departments to maintain continuous readiness for The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
  • Corrective Action: Draft and recommend formal Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) under the direction of the CCO to address identified gaps or audit findings.
  • Committee Support: Coordinate the Corporate Compliance Committee including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
  • Administrative Support: Execute additional duties as assigned by the Corporate Compliance Officer to support the departments mission.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required. A minimum of one year of experience in healthcare compliance or privacy is required. Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word Outlook & Excel) and Epic EHR also required.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Healthcare Privacy (CHPC) and one year of experience with Privacy / HIPAA investigations is preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulatory requirements billing coding and reimbursement systems.
  • Familiarity with Bureau of Primary Health Care Compliance requirements and TJC ambulatory health care along with patient centered medical home standards is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret complex statues and regulations conduct independent research synthesize findings and apply results to healthcare operations.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify deficiencies and develop corrective action plan; strong analytical critical thinking problem solving and computer skills; a high level of integrity and have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
