Student-at-Large: Student Group Committee
ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE
This is a volunteer position on a student governance committee for the 2026/27 academic year. While this is an unpaid role student committee members will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions and develop transferable skills. SGC has a wide variety of functions related to student groups. The Standing Orders for this committee can be found here.
EXPECTATIONS AND TIME COMMITMENT
This committee will meet on an ad hoc basis. The meeting schedule is subject to change based on the availability of committee members. This committee may be called upon to play a role in investigations and discuss confidential information. Committee members are expected to attend as many meetings as possible and carefully review all meeting materials in advance so they can make informed decisions fairly and without bias.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be University of Alberta undergraduate students registered in at least one course for credit in the Fall and Winter semesters of the 2026/27 academic year. An understanding of student groups at the University of Alberta and UASU legislation is an asset but is not required. This position is open to all faculties and all experience levels are welcome.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Applications should include a resume and expression of interest (500 words) listing past experience and interest in the position. This posting is for four students-at-large two of whom must be executive members of a registered student group. If you are a current student group executive please note this in your application. Questions regarding the roles duties qualifications or time commitment can be directed to the Vice President (Student Life) at Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
The application will remain open until April 10 2025.
