Job Summary
We are hiring a Cardio Thoracic Physician Assistant Direct Hire for one of our clients in Oceanside NY.
Job Description:
- The Physician Assistant will support the surgical open-heart program.
- Provide support and accountability as an experienced PA in the clinical area of expertise and displays leadership and mentorship to designated PA team associated medical teams and staff.
- The Physician Assistant maintains clinical responsibility for patient care with supervising physician and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing.
- Performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking diagnosis ordering of medications and diagnostics and performance of corrective preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient surgical and/or outpatient setting.
- Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System and the department of hire.
Qualifications Responsibilities:
Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program Masters preferred Experience and Skills
Skills Required:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Speaks reads and writes English
- Basic Microsoft Office Use
- Previous Epic software use preferred
License/Certifications:
- Current NYS Physician Assistant Licensure/Registration.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the NYS Board of Medicine
- Current unrestricted DEA certificate for mid-level providers. (Full schedule: 2 2N 3 3N 4 5)
- NYS Mandated Infection Control Course Certificate (renewable every four years)
- Current BLS ACLS for assigned areas of practice.
Experience Required:
- Recent OR experience required.
- Recent experience as a Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist and harvesting preferred. Working Conditions Other information: Working Conditions
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
- Moderate Physical Activity required.
- Physical ability to stand stoop bend lift and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time.
