Job Summary:
The Operating Room Assistant is a member of the surgical team responsible for assisting surgical staff with patient care under direction. This includes transportation supplies equipment instruments and maintaining a clean environment. The role involves room turnover decontamination assisting with setups patient transfers stocking supplies and communication within the OR.
Location:Seattle Washington United States
Responsibilities:
- Performs room turnover and maintains cleanliness of the surgical area equipment and patient transportation devices.
- Performs decontamination of instrumentation and equipment needed for surgical cases.
- Assists with the setup of the surgical suite.
- Assists with patient transfers and positioning with assistance from OR staff.
- Assists with obtaining and returning instruments and equipment.
- Stocks cores and rooms with supplies and maintains par levels.
- Returns unused supplies to the appropriate area.
- Assists with communication within the OR including answering telephones documenting messages and relaying messages.
- Assists with transporting and escorting surgical patients and their families.
- Assists with transporting equipment and specimens to the appropriate department.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with proof of completion (diploma transcript or GED certificate).
- BLS Certification.
- Experience in Operating Room/Ambulatory Surgery/Periop environment.
- Ability to interpret safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to listen and understand messages.
- Ability to follow procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Not specified.
Special Considerations:
- No weekends.
- No call requirements.
Scheduling:
- 5x8 Shift.
- 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
- Monday - Friday.
