Founded in 1924 andlocatedin Seattles Madison Valley neighborhood The Bush School is an independent school serving students from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Summary of position:
TheMiddleSchoolFrench and SpanishFaculty memberreports to theMiddleSchool Directorand works closely with students and families as well asMiddleSchool Faculty and Staffwhile alsobeingan active member of the schoolsWorld LanguageDepartment.Thispositionwillbe responsible forteachingworld languageclasses (to include both French and Spanishclasses)throughout the school year in addition tothe possibility ofhosting a studentadvisorygroupfor the Academic Year.
While other duties may be assigned aqualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below:
Possess the ability and skills to successfully teach both French and Spanish
Plan prepareand deliver instructional activities thatfacilitateactive learning experiencesin both in-person and virtual classrooms
Create an immersion setting in classusingcomprehensible input to build students oral and writtenproficiency
Develop and implement a proficiency-oriented interdisciplinary multicultural experiential curriculum
Observe/evaluate/assess students developmentusing ACTFLs Proficiency Guidelinesandmaintainaccuraterecordsregardingstudent progress and areas of growth
Serve as advisor to the middle school students
Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and within the curriculum
Establish classroom expectationsthat create a safe and comfortable environment for all students
Collaborate and work effectively with the schoolsWorld LanguageDepartment
Create and sustain effective family partnerships for example: communicate with parents/guardiansregardingstudent progress and classroom news via formal conferences written reportsand school portal
Attend school related events outside the scheduled school day
Participate actively in school/division/department meetingsin addition toschoolactivities/committees
Lead E-lectivesthroughout the academic year
Design and lead an E Week program each academic year
Be familiar with all the roles and responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook
Attend all grade-level meetings
Attend all Middle School Department and All-Staff faculty meetings
Attend all beginning of the year and end-of-year faculty meetings
Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned
Experience and Professional Competencies:
Experience in teachingMiddle SchoolFrench and Spanish a minimum of 3 years is preferred
A bachelors degreeinFrench SpanishEducationor related fieldis
A graduate degreeinFrench SpanishEducationor a related fieldis preferred
Successful candidates will:

Have proficient skills in the use of technology: including but not limited to Microsoft SuiteGoogle Driveand Google Classroom and Outlook
Preferred but notfamiliarity using Canvas or LMS.

Additional Requirements:
Have a current Adult and Children CPR First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)
Meet the schools standards when completing two separate background screenings
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods manage long days handle standard office and classroom materials and support body with core muscles
Occasional lifting or moving of items 10-25 pounds
Ability to use hands to handle small objects and to manage writing
