Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) Critical Care Unit (CCU) is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in an adult Emergency Department/Intensive Care Unit (ED/ICU) holding environment. The nurse performs advanced patient assessments administers treatments monitors patient conditions and collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. This role requires experience in acute care critical care settings and the ability to manage complex patient needs with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in a critical care or ED/ICU holding unit.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient conditions continuously.
Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on clinical assessments and physician orders.
Administer medications intravenous therapies and other treatments according to established clinical protocols.
Monitor vital signs cardiac rhythms and clinical indicators to identify changes in patient conditions.
Respond to medical emergencies and assist with life-saving procedures when required.
Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record system.
Communicate effectively with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care plans.
Educate patients and families regarding treatments procedures and recovery expectations.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies patient safety standards and infection control protocols.
Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care experience within the past two years in a hospital of similar size or trauma level.
Experience working in critical care or intensive care settings.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
Experience working in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers preferred.
Strong clinical assessment critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
