Summary:
Assist individual served and staff in the management of individuals finances. This is to be accomplished through the application of State and Federal Regulations as well as KCARCs policies and procedures.
Essential Duties:
- Work with individual served and staff to facilitate individuals served involvement in all financial matters as outlined in their individual plan.
- Work with program staff to include a savings goal for each individual served. Work with individuals served and staff to use this savings appropriately and to replenish as quickly as possible for funds drawn from the Arc Trusts.
- Protect all benefits of the individual served by maintaining individuals funds at a level below the state and federal limit and as prescribed by KCARC policy.
- Work with program services to establish a burial trust for any individual that wants one.
- Seek all benefits available to each individual served. This includes but is not limited to Social Security SSDI Food Stamps utility assistance programs etc. Once benefits are established provide all funding sources with the required information related to benefit continuation.
- Protect individuals assets thru proper insurance coverages.
- Work with banks to streamline the banking and bill paying process.
- Maximize each individuals resources at all times. This includes development of plans and processes to assure timely payment of each individuals debt and timely recording of income.
- Maintain accurate and timely tracking of each individuals financial condition thru the use of the Quicken Program or some other approved similar method. This process includes accrual accounting as necessary for those income and expense items that only happen periodically.
- Maintain each individual served files in a manner that allows quick accurate access to information for any given time period.
- Provide monthly financial reports as required for the Individual Support Team.
- Report to supervisor any problems/concerns regarding each individual served finances. This report should include recommendations for corrections.
- Prepare tax filings and other reports as required by various outside sources.
- Back-up telephone support.
- Compile and prepare financial files needed for any audits scheduled from internal or outside agencies.
- Annual audits of all Individuals served.
- Maintain financial training for both DSPs and management level.
- Send Guardian reports each month as requested.
- Prepare Rep Payee reports thru Social Security.
- All other duties as deemed necessary.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Three years of bookkeeping experience and/or equivalent training preferred.
